hagel the department is controlled by the israeli foreign military. and if the second statement were true said the secretary of state's office is it controlled by the israeli foreign military, and the israelis-u.s. relationship way out of the mainstream. if he were to accuse the department of state of being basically subserviant to the nation of israel that would be, that would be enough to scuttle this nomination. >> new questions about transparency within the obama administration as the white house press corps expressing frustration after being barred from the president's weekend golf trip to florida. >> the drive-by fit to be tied. and ed henry the head of the white house correspondent's association has logged an official complaint with the white house claiming lack of transparency. >> let me say it as simply as i can, transparency and the rule of low will be the touchstones of this presidency. >> do you think it's that big a deal. do you think that a picture with obama and tiger woods, it would hurt him? i don't either. who are we talking about, he's the celebrity of the united s

at a news conference on benghazi. mccain was addressing the republican tactic of filibustering the hagel confirmation to get more answers on benghazi. >> there are other questions that need to be answered, and we feel that the intervening week and a half almost is sufficient time to get those questions answered. >> so from that comment right there to "meet the press," something must have happened, because mccain wasn't talking about a massive cover-up there. in fact, he seems confident that the questions will get answered. even in his interview with david gregory yesterday, mccain admitted the filibuster of hagel would end. >> but he will be confirmed, and we will have a vote when we get back, and i'm confident that senator hagel will probably have the votes necessary to be confirmed as the secretary of defense. >> round and round and -- it just doesn't seem to add up, does it? if mccain is filibustering hagel to get answers on benghazi, and if mccain claims there is a massive cover-up, then why would mccain allow the hagel vote to move forward after a week and a half? well, time's up. c

's confirmation as secretary of state, and even slammed kerry as well as chuck hagel for bean anti-military even though both of them serve honorably while cruz spent his formertive years strolling the leafy campuses of princeton and harvard. here he is shapelessly bashing kerry and haig. >> well, we have two pending nominations. john kerry, chuck hagel. both of whom are very prominently less than ardent fans of the u.s. military. >> michael: unbelievable. after those comments even senator john mccain told him to tone it down. and mccain has bipartisan support on this one. democratic senators dianne feinstein and claire mccaskill compared him to joseph mccarthy who accused american citizens of being communist. but toning it down is not in his repertoire. he was at it again. just to give you flavor for the place, this is the poster for larue tactical where the senator chose to call president obama's gun control initiatives wrong. those are mild from what he said in the past. cruz argued that the gun show loophole does not exist. he's a loophole truther. >> there actually isn't the so-called gun sh

. there are not a lot of people that want to do anything. that is what chuck hagel has in common, you could be the most conservative senator, john mccain's pick for the cabinet. as soon as you get a little bit of obama on you they can't work with you. and it is their problem, a lot of us have to deal with it but it is fundamentally a failure of the republican party and it is why they're going to continue to lose elections in and perhaps past the obama era. >> paul ryan wanted a piece of this anti-immigration obama stuff, so let's listen to him. >> leaking it out does set things in the wrong direction. the things we have to ask ourselves, particularly with the white house is president obama looking for a bipartisan law? and without addressing future flow, by giving advantage who cut in front of line for immigrants who came here legally, not dealing with border security adequately, that tells us he is looking for a bipartisan advantage, and not a solution. >> steve, it tells us it is not actually a complete legislative proposal. >> it is a starting point, and again, one of the republican's favorite lines

interesting facts at johanns. he's one of two republicans who come out in sft of chuck hagel. he's a former bush cabinet member who belonged to the bipartisan group of eight who was trying to achieve deficit reduction. former governors have notoriously hated the senate even when the senate worked and they're more likely to complain about the senate now. and ask yourself, and the senate 2016 going to be better off without someone like johanns. that gang of eight, two of the former republicans, saxby chambliss. they had a nasty republican fight two years ago, and necessarily governor heineman decides to run, and he seems likely, if he doesn't, there will be another brutal fight. he acknowledged to the omaha world monday that the situation is different now because term limit. i don't think i've ever indicated that being in the sate is my amber job but those i have to look at it. others include state treasurer and always thinking about it, candidate don stenberg. he's run for the senate four times. then congressman jeff fortenberry. if heineman doesn't run, gop's likely to struggle with same ca
